Olde Time – Introduction

There is a story I am about to tell you. It is my favorite story. It’s the story of History – the story of God’s people, and God’s story of you.

From the beginning of time, God has been dreaming of a Kingdom. He has been building that Kingdom, and He wants you to be part of that Kingdom. But even more, God wants you to not just be a part of the Kingdom; He wants you to actually help Him build it. This means that sometimes you will nurse it as you would a cold kitten, and other times you will raise its banners under cover of thunder and hail. Sometimes you might, maybe if you are lucky, you might build His kingdom through your own blood.

Someday you could find yourself in a lonely land with your family far away, but there you build the Kingdom. Someday you could find yourself forgotten in the middle of a lazy church community, but there you build the Kingdom. Someday you could find yourself bleeding out in an empty desert or jungle or sidewalk, and even there you build the Kingdom.

Why would you? Because you love the kingdom. You love its beauty. You love its peace. You love the way the people talk about each other. You love its trees and its music. You love it all because you were made to love it and to love the one who made it. His name is God. He is the Holy Father with a Bleeding Son, and He is very, very Good…

  1. Building the kingdom all the time, everywhere! Thanks for the encouraging story! I identify to being in the lonely places, the hurting places, the forgotten places. Sometimes the realities of these places crash down and one is left wondering how to cope… Build the lovely kingdom!
